A little bit about us...

We, Jenn and Jeremie, met at the Oregon Brew Crew when Jeremie joined as a new member back in July of 2006 at our annual Widmer Brothers out meeting held onsite at the brewery. 4 Years later, Rob Widmer was kind enough to let us get married there by the co-owner of Belmont Station, published author, and Beer Goddess herself, Lisa Morrison. Incidentally, Lisa was being filmed as part of the beer documentary "The Love of Beer". As a result, our wedding appears in that film! The next year, Jeremie was interviewed for and appeared in the documentary "My First Oregon Brewers Festival".

Jenn started brewing in 2004, and Jeremie in 2006; we have been happily brewing together ever since. We love to brew traditional styles like stouts and IPAs but also enjoy experimenting with things like spices and fruits.

Our hobby has grown considerably over the years. We have turned our garage into "McPoLanders Taproom" featuring 11 taps; we freely share our homebrew as well as a rotation of our favorite local commercial brews with friends and neighbors. However, this is *NOT* a public establishment.

We support homebrewing through multiple years of service on the board of the Oregon Brew Crew homebrew club (OBC). Jenn is a former OBC Burgermeister and Volunteer Coordinator and was elected Communications Chair in 2014; Jeremie is an OBC Past President, was Competition Chair for three years, and has been the club Historian since 2013. In 2008 Jeremie was asked and joined the six person Widmer Collaborator committee with Rob Widmer at the helm; Jenn was asked and joined in 2012.

As well, we continue participation in club events and educational seminars, helping new homebrewers and those looking to learn how to brew and appreciate craft beer reach those goals.  We support the craft brewing industry in general through volunteering and staffing most locally based beer festivals (such as Spring Beer & Wine Fest (SB&WF), Portland's Cheers to Belgian Beers, Portland Fruit Beer Festival (PFBF) and its homebrew competition which benefits the OBC, Portland Craft Beer Festival (PCBF), Oregon Brewers Festival, Fresh Hops Festival, and the Holiday Ale Festival) as well as working directly for the Oregon Brewers Guild at various other festivals. In addition, Jenn is the Volunteer Coordinator for the SB&WF, PFBF, and PCBF.

We are also active beer judges and stewards at various homebrew competitions and professional competitions, judging at among others the Oregon Brew Crew Fall Classic (homebrew) and Best of Craft Beer Awards (pro), as well as heading up stewarding the Oregon Beer Awards (pro).

We enjoy entering brew competitions, such as the Fall Classic. In 2014, Jenn and Jeremie each took home two gold medals apiece, with Jenn taking the Best of Show out of hundreds of entries. She now holds the distinction of being the first solo female winner of the Fall Classic Best of Show! Earlier that year, Jeremie entered the Clean Water Services Pure Water Brew Competition and took second place with a German Pilsner. The beer was sent to New Orleans for the WateReuse Association's One Water Innovations gala where it received high praise for its drinkability and quality.

Over the years, we have had the pleasure of teaming up with various brewmasters to brew our recipes professionally:

  • In 2012, we brewed "North End Cascadian Dark Ale" (CDA), Jeremie's Best of Show for the Timbers Army Homebrew Competition, at The New Old Lompoc 5th Quadrant.

  • In 2013, we won the Widmer Collaborator Homebrew Competition with "Kenton IPA" which we brewed in 2014 with Dan Munch on the Widmer Innovation Brew System for limited local release.

  • Also in 2013, Jenn with the Ladies of Lagers and Ales (L.O.L.A.) brewed "LOLA CDA" at Base Camp.

  • In 2014, Jenn again with L.O.L.A. brewed "Neopolitan Ale" with the highly talented and multiple award-winning Tonya Cornett at 10 Barrel in Bend for the Willamette Week ProAm.

  • Also in 2014, we brewed the collaboration "StellaNova India Session Ale" with the legendary John Harris at Ecliptic Brewing, also for the Willamette Week ProAm.

  • In January 2015, a prize as a result of Jenn's Best of Show win, we brewed the collaboration "Imperator" Russian Imperial Stout (with Bulleit Bourbon and Vanilla) with Charlie Hutchins at Rock Bottom.

  • In March 2015, we proudly brewed with former Lucky Lab brewmaster Ben Flerchinger a beer the three of us designed for their "Cheers to Belgian Beers" entry.

  • In 2016 we brewed "Honeydew Cucumber Bright Ale", a collobration with Bolt Minister and Badger of 54-40 Brewing.

  • Also in 2016, at Burnside Brewing we brewed a lavender vanilla ale called "Fleur de Creme" with the lovely and talented Natalie Rose Baldwin (now with BreakSide Brewing).

  • In 2017 Jenn served as one of the Organizers of SheBrew which included a National all women's Homebrew Competition and Beer Festival featuring female professional and homebrewers. These events benefitted theh Oregon Brew Crew and the Human Rights Campaign.

  • The McPolanders also took home their second Widmer Collaborator win with Czech Mex, an International Light Lager that was Jeremie's creation.

  • We've done so much more; updates COMING SOON!

You might say we love beer :)
